We caught up with Marlène Sazerac, Customer Developer Team Manager in Lengow’s sales team!
Born Parisian but Berliner at heart, I like working in multicultural environments. After my Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Intercultural Negotiations, I moved to the e-commerce sector, which I loved straight away: a young environment in constant evolution.
I worked at Rakuten (previously PriceMinister) for 6 years. I started as a Business Developer and then became an Account Manager, where I enjoyed contact with the sales team.
I then joined Lengow, which I already knew well through the sales team who used this solution a lot. I started as Customer Developer (formerly Account Manager) and I’m now responsible for a team of 6 people.
There are many ways to become a sales person. Sales training is certainly an undeniable advantage, but that’s not it!
You have to enjoy contact with people, by telephone, in meetings or out in the field. A taste for competition and challenge are intrinsic values for sales people! It’s this temperament that means you never give up!
In addition to good interpersonal skills (which include listening carefully to customer needs), it’s key to have an analytical mind in order to be more persuasive.
Lengow is currently looking for all types of profiles (rather senior on the Customer Development side of things). A passion for tech is of course a plus but we won’t close any doors! The main things are: personality, motivation and what you’ve learned from your past experiences.
E-commerce is a rapidly-changing environment and is becoming more and more rooted in consumer habits. There are so many possibilities to grow in this sector!
One day you can work within a marketplace, then a SaaS solution, an agency, or even on the side of a brand or retailer on different axes (retargeting, affiliation, social networks, etc.).
That’s what makes it so interesting!
There are many reasons!
Firstly, there is a great atmosphere. It’s very important for us to have good team spirit… like that we learn faster and we help each other in a friendly way!
Profiles are varied, which is also very enriching. And if you like to hear a lot of languages spoken, you won’t be disappointed!
Another point, by being in contact with our clients and their projects, you will discover new partners and new technologies. Being up to date with the latest developments in e-commerce is a great asset.
